A sample is collected via pinprick or a nasal swab. We also offer saliva tests. It depends on which test you choose.

Yes strep throat can go away on its own in some patients. Strep throat may not go away on its own if it turns into a cellulitis or throat lining infection. Strep throat may not go away if it spreads and causes a painful abscess called a peritonsillar abscess. Strep throat treated with antibiotics reduces pain and the number of days of throat pain.
